The Growing Rift Between EMC and Cisco

September 4, 2012 1 Comment »

EMC Corp. has been working towards becoming a big player in the cloud computing storage space. But it looks like these efforts may be breaking down. More specifically, the company’s partnership with Cisco does not seem to be going as planned. The two of them had come together to participate in a joint venture – VCE – in 2009. VCE which has VMware, Cisco and EMC coming together to offer data center solutions saw the involvement of VMware which is a subsidiary of EMC.

However, the industry is speculating about the parting of ways of Cisco and EMC. Cisco is also reported to be readying to enter the storage space and take on EMC as a competitor.

For EMC, this may be a huge problem since its equipment in terms of software and server architecture is geared towards Cisco equipment. EMC is also said to be looking around for a replacement for Cisco.
