Rackspace, the US based hosting company has signed a 15 year lease deed with Digital Realty for the latter’s data center site in Richardson, Texas. The long term lease gives Rackspace access to upwards of 58,000 square feet of raised floor space.Half this space has been leased for 15 years starting August this year and the remaining half will also be leased for 15 years starting August of the year 2015. The lease comes at a price tag of $ 134 million for 15 years and with an option of extension by another decade.
Digital Realty purchased the Richardson property in 2011 and renamed it as Digital Realty Trust Datacenter Park – Dallas from the original title of Collins Technology Park. The site offers buildings of a total size of 800,000 square feet. The site has a 40 megawatt electrical substation with the possibility of an expansion up to 125 megawatt.
