Virtualization as a technology has been a game changer for the data center industry. But in order for it to work at its most effective levels, it has to be coupled with visibility into the virtual streams. The operations and networks team can function at their optimum best only with this kind of visibility. Riverbed Technology has come up with a solution to this issue with its range of Cascade network performance management appliances. These appliances have been given visibility into virtual desktop and virtual LAN. The Cascade 10 OS can now help look into Citrix XenDesktop and VMware View virtual desktop streams and into VMware VXLAN virtualized network tunnels as well.

This OS is available in the company’s Shark, Pilot and Profiler devices. This kind of visibility goes a long way in empowering networks and operations teams in enjoying all the benefits of virtualization. The company will also be buying Opnet Technologies for $1 billion. This purchase will enhance application network performance solutions.
