Extreme Networks Gets Data Center Product Of The Year

BlackDiamond X8, the flagship Open Fabric Switch of Extreme Networks has been given the Data Center Product of the year award by Network Computing UK 2012. This fabric switch comes from the house of Extreme Networks and has attained this recognition for its scalability, performance and energy efficiency. The award is given by way of the votes of the magazine readers. Extreme Networks has also undergone evaluation of its modular data center and has come out with performance leadership status in the Lippis Report of November 2011.

For David Ginsburg, the Chief Marketing Officer for Extreme Networks, this award is a matter of pride. BlackDiamond has the highest tested 10GbE and 40GbE port density and can support a maximum of 768 wire- speed 10GbE connected servers. The X8 switch demonstrated lowest latency among all the switches tested – it showed 2.3 microseconds for 64 byte packets. The product also maintained wire speed and lossless throughput.
