The Green Choice – Blade Servers

October 26, 2012 Comments Off on The Green Choice – Blade Servers

Blade Servers can be a wise choice as far as environmental consciousness is concerned. For IT managers who are looking to reduce carbon footprint, a blade server can be a smart choice because they are designed for simplicity. Blade servers leave a smaller footprint than full sized servers which needs a whole bunch of extras like USB ports and DVD drives.
A blade server is smaller and can be mounted into a rack to conserve space. They can also be manufactured with modularity in mind and this contributes even more into making it capable of being fitted into a small space.

Blade servers also eat up 20% lower energy than full blown servers. This will amount to a huge amount of savings when one talks about a large number of servers in a data center.

Since companies are also adopting virtualization in a big way, blade servers can mean the smart choice for virtualized networks. Thin clients and leaner workstations without DVD drives or CD drives help promote energy savings for the company.
