Vyatta Acquisition Helps Data Center Enhancement

In an extremely interesting move, Brocade has announced the acquisition of Vyatta. The acquisition will be completed by the end of this year. This news is interesting mainly because Vyatta is an arch rival of Cisco.Vyatta, founded in 2006, makes open source based network software and has relevance for multiple apps in network virtualization, private/ public cloud computing platforms and SDN or software defined networking.

This company’s software is based on the code developed by eXtensible Open Route Platform or XORP. The acquisition will help Brocade shore up its data center, cloud and virtualization offerings. Brocade is also now even better equipped to explore new markets and market opportunities in these areas including enterprise virtual private cloud and managed services.

The Vyatta acquisition will also help Brocade enhance its data center fabric and IP networking technologies. The end user will be able to enjoy benefits such as end-to-end virtualized network infrastructure and faster application deployment.
