Rackspace Expanding Into Oregon and Australia

Rackspace hosting Inc. has finalized plans of expanding its data center business. In a multimillion dollar deal, the hosting and cloud computing company has finished planning for a data center facility in Erskine Park, Sydney.This leased facility is under construction but should be online before this year is out. Rackspace has entered the markets of Australia and New Zealand in the year 2009. The San Antonio based company has also drawn up plans for another data center facility in Boardman, Oregon.

The company has paid $ 2 million for the land which is around 99 acres. The facility itself will come up in the industrial park in the Port of Morrow. This location has advantages like water access, fiber optics and a moderate climate.

Currently, the company has 8 data centers all over the world. The need for new data centers has been felt because of the rapid growth of demand that the company is facing.
