Business continuity planning is critical for data centers and with a few tips kept in mind, every data center operator can foster the same. Five tips that will help a data center operator are – server load balancing, link load balancing, geographical load balancing, SSL transactions and TCP acceleration.
At the heart of it all lie Application Delivery Controllers or ADCs which perform an important role of protecting corporate assets and in each of the five areas mentioned above can perform important functions.
For instance, an ADC can address link load balancing by taking out an inaccessible link and automatically directing traffic to other functional links.
To achieve geographical load balancing, ADCs can redirect traffic to the best performing sites by taking into consideration factors such as user location and site performance.
Similarly, ADCs offload SSL from servers which gives them the ability to focus on serving apps and content to end users.
