IT is one area where the changes are rapid and in the blink of an eye, the entire world can change. Trying to stay on the ball can be a very complex task indeed. This was brought to the fore when David Cappucio, an analyst with Gartner spoke at the research firm’s annual IT symposium. He spoke about 10 critical trends that will shape IT future in the next 5 years. These trends are disruption, SDN, bigger data & storage, hybrid clouds, client server, internet expansion, appliances, complexity, virtualization and demand on IT.

Within these 10 trends, factors like demand for extra efficiency of IT, the advent of the third stage of virtualization which has intelligent fabrics and a staggering amount of complexity within the IT environment will drive the way IT functions in the near future.

The internet will also expand like never before and will have aspects such as embedded sensors, NFC payment and image recognition.
