Amazon Web Services Data Center Outage

Mega electrical storms took out the data center of Amazon Web Services in eastern USA. The storms swept across Virginia and along with the AWS services, took down Pinterest, Instagram and Netflix and other companies who rely on data center services too. Customers could not access these services for a few hours. There has been considerable loss of property and life too. Unfortunately, from the business point of view, questions are being raised about the safety of the internet cloud once again.

It is true that many start up companies have been able to use the cloud to show phenomenal growth in their business but with outages such as the latest one, to the AWS, these businesses have also shown how vulnerable they are.

Plenty of people use the cloud to make their everyday lives easier. AWS serves their needs as well as the bigger clients like Unilever and Fox Entertainment too.
