Microsoft has come up with the SQL Server that is replete with a lot of advantages for its clients. One of the striking advantages is its ability to scale databases from in- app to cloud. Developers can therefore build it into their applications or even utilize SQL Azure to deploy cloud scale data. The company has also added on new business intelligence edition which enhances the analytic tools in the product. It has also got the Power View self service analysis and reporting tools.
In fact, Microsoft has whittled down the number of versions of the product keeping it to Enterprise, Standard and Business Intelligence Editions.
As far as performance and the private cloud goes, SQL Server 2012 has faster operations specifically in connection with bigger databases. It delivers better data encryption features. It is also one of the key components of the company’s cloud strategy. A lot of the features are building up on cloud- hosted SQL Azure.
