Bluffdale, Utah is the site of the NSA data center. This massive facility is once again in the news thanks to the leak of some documents recently. The documents date back to the year 2005 and they talk about the Pentagon building what is being known as the global information grid. The NSA data center facility seems to fit neatly into this vision. Its cloud dependent technology will allow the agency to look into its stores of information. Many aspects of the Utah data center set it apart. It is 1 million square feet in size.
There is massive security that governs the data center. NSA will use the Cray XC30 series whose development has been financed with the help of Department of Defense.
This computing ecosystem has the power to go up to speeds of 100 petaflops. In simple terms this would mean that it is around 3 times faster than the Milky Way-2.
