Reno, the biggest little city in the world is said to be on the map of data centers as far as Apple is concerned. The company is drawing up plans to expand data center operations outside of this city, in a place called Sparks. The Nevada project is likely to come up at a cost of $ 1 billion. This amount will get pumped in into the state’s economy in the next decade. In building its own data center, Apple is in a group of companies that is doing pretty much the same thing. Companies like Facebook and Google believe in building their own data centers to cope with the increase in the client base for their services.
Along with their own facilities in Prineville and Maiden, the Reno facility will also play host to the company’s services like App store, iCloud data storage and so on. Reno is not a stranger to Apple. The company has a satellite office there and with the new plans will also get a purchase center in Reno.
